WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID FILLER?

HYALURONIC ACID (HA) is a naturally occurring sugar molecule that can hold up to 1000X its weight in water. It's found throughout our bodies but breaks down relatively quickly. HA filler contains hyaluronic acid molecules and varying degrees of stabilizing ingredients, depending on the brand, HA concentration, and intended use. Most HA Filler contains lidocaine to make treatments more comfortable.

WHAT IS FILLER USED FOR?

HA FILLER is often used to restore lost volume to the skin or to add or restore structure or improve symmetry. It can be used to hydrate, shape, disguise, and accentuate features.

WHERE CAN I HAVE FILLER INJECTED?

HA FILLER is used in a variety of places, including but not limited to: the forehead, between the eyes, the eyelids, under the eyes, the cheeks, the midface, the scalp, the ears, the neck, scars, the jaw, the chin, the nose, lips, breasts, buttocks, labia, the penis, the scrotum, testicles, feet, hands, etc.

ARE THERE RISKS?

Because HA FILLER is a large molecule that is injected into your body, there are a number of risks. Bleeding, redness, bruising, pain, and swelling are common side effects. Infection, nodules, vascular occlusion (blocking a blood vessel), visual loss, and skin necrosis are serious but infrequent complications.

The product selection, the area injected, and the method of injection all contribute to longevity of the product and the risk profile. The upper face (forehead, between the eyes, eyelids), scalp, breast, buttocks, ears, nose, labia, penis, scrotum, and testicles are all extremely HIGH RISK areas.

Over time, HA FILLER breaks down naturally but it can also migrate into other areas.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Many factors play a role in how long HA FILLER lasts. The product type, individual patient factors (metabolism, exercise frequency, sun exposure, etc.), the injection method, the amount injected, the area injected, and more all influence longevity. Generally speaking 6-24 months you can expect an aesthetic result to be maintained. Sometimes the aesthetic results are not visible but the product remains in the body. Repeated HA FILLER injections can result in that puffy pillow-faced look so you may need to dissolve before getting approved for additional treatments.

CAN IT BE REVERSED?

Sometimes HA FILLER needs to be reversed or dissolved due to migration, complication, or because you just want to get rid of it. A molecule called hyaluronidase is used to dissolve. We inject it similarly to how we inject HA FILLER. The product stings a bit and can cause swelling and discomfort at first but usually goes down quickly and works promptly. Dissolving and refilling with more HA FILLER should be separated by one-two weeks. Occasionally multiple dissolving sessions are required.

CAN I JUST GET A HALF SYRINGE?

At HUMANEX HEALTH&WELLNESS, we do not sell HA FILLER in units smaller than full syringes. Each syringe of filler is designed to be single use for a single client only. This is a safety protocol to ensure that our guests are receiving the highest quality of care and that HUMANEX HEALTH&WELLNESS follows gold standard infection control standards. The appropriate quantity of product to achieve your goals is determined by your provider and will be discussed with you.

WILL I LOOK UNNATURAL?

At HUMANEX HEALTH&WELLNESS, we do not think any type of look is better than others. Do you like exaggerated features? Awesome. Do you prefer to look as if you have never set foot into an aesthetic clinic before? Also awesome. Our goal is to safely, effectively, and ethically, help you achieve your goals.
