GENERAL:
The procedures performed at HUMANOLOGIE HEALTH & WELLNESS will likely not cause you great suffering. We recommend you follow these after care guidelines to ensure successful recovery post-procedures for the best results.
Follow these directions for 7 days after treatment. If you are still experiencing any ongoing healing, continue following the recommendations until you have recovered. If you have any questions, please contact us through the secure portal.
UNIVERSAL RECOMMENDATIONS:
The skin cycle takes about 28 days and can be disrupted by trauma/stress, so renewal and regeneration will take some time to manifest.
Always wash your hands before you touch treated areas (such as for massage, when indicated). Otherwise try not to pick, exfoliate, touch, squeeze, manipulate, or otherwise agitate the treated areas. If blisters form, do not pop the blisters.
Keep the area clean. Try not to expose the treated areas to unclean environments (such as swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, gyms, dirty clothes, dirty bed linens, dirty towels). Do not use contaminated products like old lipsticks, etc.
Do not use NSAIDs (Advil etc.) for pain as they can increase bruising. Tylenol should be okay if you are not contraindicated from taking it. Some people choose to use arnica products and drink pineapple juice to help with pain and bruising.
Wear sunscreen every day and avoid prolonged direct sun exposure.
Use only a mild cleanser if necessary. Avoid exfoliation (chemical or physical) and use of retinols/tretinoin/adapalene or other harsh actives. Vitamin C and other nourishing products are okay.
Hypochlorous acid products such as e11ement may help speed up healing time and decrease inflammation.
Avoid airline travel if possible (altitudes and air pressure can affect pain and healing)
If you have lots of swelling, you can use ice packs or cold compresses. Leave on for a few minutes then take it off and repeat as desired.
Stress and trauma can reactivate herpes virus (Cold Sores)-- you may need to go on antivirals after your treatment if you are prone to breakouts.
Dentist appointments or other invasive procedures (including aesthetic treatments like lasers etc.) are not recommended within two weeks of treatments as you will have an increased risk for infection and complication.
If you notice any of the following symptoms, please contact the clinic immediately: fever, chills, angry red/inflamed areas, abnormal warmth or coolness to treated areas, discharge, worsening or severe pain, abnormal bruising, or mottled pale or dusky skin.
NEUROMODULATORS
Follow the universal recommendations.
Results typically begin in 2-4 days, with full effect visible in 2 weeks. The results are not immediate and you must wait for the 2-week mark to fully evaluate the treatment outcome.
The effects of treatment are temporary, typically lasting 3-6 months. Muscle action will gradually return, and lines and wrinkles will reappear. Only seek treatment once the product has completely worn off or at minimum, 3 months between treatment. If the duration of treatment is not lasting at least 3 months, dosing or medication choice may need to be adjusted.
Actively exercise the treated muscles by frowning, raising your eyebrows, and squinting for the first few hours after treatment. This may help the product bind to the intended muscles.
Avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying pressure to the treated areas for at least 24 hours to prevent the product from migrating to an unwanted area.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 24 hours (reduces risk for bruising)
Zinc supplementation may enhance the longevity of neuromodulator treatments
HYALURONIC ACID DERMAL FILLER
Follow the universal recommendations.
Product integration and full recovery typically take about 4-6 weeks. Feeling bumps or lumps of product can be a normal part of the product integration process. If they are still present after a month, please contact the clinic.
Individual results vary and duration of effect can last anywhere from 6 months to beyond 18 months depending on the person and area treated and product used. Sometimes filler can migrate, either because of a patient's anatomy or some other reason. If this happens within two weeks of injection, please contact the clinic through the portal.
Bruising, discomfort, and swelling are all normal following filler injections. Monitor the trajectory of any bruising and discomfort. These should fade within a few days to a week (depending on the patient). Should you notice any pale/dusky/discoloured areas that may or may not be painful that either get worse, do not improve at all, or spread to adjacent areas, this could be an indication of a vascular occlusion. In this case, please contact the clinic immediately.
Avoid rubbing, massaging, sleeping on, or applying pressure to the treated areas for at least 72 hours to prevent the product from migrating to an unwanted area. Try not to sleep on the treated areas. Sleeping more upright can help with swelling.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 24-48 hours (reduces risk for bruising)
SCULPTRA
Follow the universal recommendations.
The results of a SCULPTRA treatment typically take about 3 months for the full effect to emerge but you will likely start noticing improvements at the one month mark.
You should massage the treated area for 5 minutes using a gentle back and forth motion. Do this 5 times a day for 5 days counting from the day after initial treatment. This will prevent nodule formation and ensure product integration.
If you notice any small bumps or nodules that develop in the treated area, you can gently apply pressure, such as by using a guasha tool, to disperse the product. If you notice red, very firm, large, or painful bumps, please contact the clinic.
Best results are obtained with a series of treatments around 2-3 months apart.
MICRONEEDLING
Follow the universal recommendations.
You will feel like your face is tight, be a bit swollen, and you will likely be pink and have pinpoint bleeding/scabs in some places. Within 1 to 2 days, you should be back to normal.
You can have microneedling done up to once per month. Best outcomes are achieved with consistent treatments.
CRYOPROBE
Follow the universal recommendations.
Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, and hot tubs for 48-36 hours.
Avoid scar gels for fresh lesions unless otherwise specified on the product.
Once the lesion is healed and the scab falls off, you must wear sunscreen on the area for at least 20 days.
WELLNESS
Wellness treatments, such as Vitamin injections, do not require many after care considerations. Monitor the site of injection to ensure there are no issues or build up of product under the skin.
HYALURONIDASE
Follow the universal recommendations but note the differences here.
You will likely experience tenderness, edema/swelling, and bruising for a few days that will resolve on its own.
Massaging the area and applying heat intermittently for the next 24-48 hours is recommended to help the hyaluronidase break down the hyaluronic acid faster.
It can take up to 14 days for hyaluronidase to completely dissolve hyaluronic acid. At the two week mark, you can re-evaluate the outcome and decide if further treatment is necessary or you can then proceed to have more filler injected if desired.
Medications that decrease the efficacy of hyaluronidase should be avoided for 24-48 hours after treatment if possible.
If your filler was emergently dissolved due to risk for vascular occlusion:
The clinic will continue treating and monitoring you as per Humanologie Health & Wellness protocols until you are deemed safe to go home. The clinic will continue to closely monitor your condition over the next few days and then weekly to make sure there are no residual concerns.
